During the era of the Shoguns in Japan from the 1500’s to 1868, local banks and communities issued their own currency – including the fascinating and unusual Hansatsu notes. Each long, thin note was printed on thick paper and features elegant designs and intricate writing. They were rarely seen beyond Japan’s borders, and they disappeared almost 150 years ago. Every scarce and historic note is slightly different, so order several for the greatest selection!
