Joseph W. Barr - the rarest signature on any Federal Reserve Note!
One of the signatures on American currency is that of the Secretary of the Treasury. For just one month at the end of President Lyndon B. Johnson’s term in 1969, Joseph W. Barr was Secretary of the Treasury… and his signature was added to the $1 bill for just a few days. In fact, it appeared ONLY on the $1 bill and is the rarest signature on any Federal Reserve Note. Today, the legendary “Barr Notes” are tough to find, especially in original uncirculated condition like the ones available here.
