In the 1700’s, the Dutch East India Company – known by the Dutch abbreviation VOC – was one of the most powerful multinational corporations in world history. Its fleet of ships enjoyed a thriving trade for Asia’s peppers and spices, and it even struck its own copper “Duit” coins which were widely used in Asia due to the lack of local coinage. While en route to Asia, however, a few VOC ships were lost at sea … complete with caches of VOC Duit coins. Now, you can own a set of the four different types of VOC Duit coins that were recovered from centuries-old shipwrecks. Only a few sets are available … so “Duit” now!
