The First U.S. Note to Declare "In God We Trust" was Also the LAST to be Redeemable as a $1 Silver Certificate

By a law passed by the 84th Congress and approved by President Eisenhower on July 30, 1956, the motto “In God We Trust” was declared the official national motto of the United States. The printing of the 1957 $1 Silver Certificate marked the first time that “In God We Trust” appeared on U.S. paper money.

The last $1 Silver Certificates were made in the Series of 1957. They are seldom seen even by avid collectors … so imagine owning a vintage Silver Certificate! These historic treasures are taken from an original hoard of Uncirculated bills. They feature the distinctive blue Treasury seal and were once redeemable for real silver from the U.S. Treasury.

"Star" Notes

“Star” notes are the most unusual and most seldom seen of all bank notes. They replace regular notes that are damaged or otherwise removed from the printing process, but this happens so rarely that few collectors ever manage to own even a single “star” note.
