The rarest and most desirable of all Morgan Silver Dollars were struck at the short-lived Carson City Mint in Nevada. These rarely-seen coins have the highly desirable “CC” mint mark.
Over 272 MILLION morgans were melted by the U.S. Government during WW I to reclaim the precious silver, but a few original bags were discovered in Treasury Department vaults in 1971 – and the best Uncirculated coins were set aside and encapsulated in special Government holders. This is a genuine 1884-CC coin from the famous Treasury hoard, and it’s still in its original holder. It’s a real piece of “Wild West” history.
