Each Marine Corps 230th Anniversary Silver Dollar Proof has a brilliant mirror-like finish. The specialized proof minting process requires each coin to be struck multiple times with specially polished dies. The process results in softly frosted, yet detailed, images that seem to float above a mirror-like field. The coin DOES NOT come with U.S. Mint Packaging.
Struck in the United States Mint's Philadelphia Minting facility. Weight is 26.73 grams, content is .90 silver and .10 copper.
The obverse has the famous image of the Marines raising the American Flag on the island of Iwo Jima
The reverse features the Official Marine Corps' Emblem of the Eagle, Globe and Anchor. The emblem was first designed in 1868 and has remained unchanged for nearly 137 years. Semper Fidelis is a Latin motto translating to "always faithful". It is the motto of The United States Marine Corps.
